My first barbecue this year

Here is a picture I snagged yesterday evening. It’s a bit dark beacuse it is still winter. If you squint a bit you can see sausages turning crispy above the red hot coal. We had some rosemary and garlic seasoned chicken too, but the photos of that went really bad. Happy summer to all of you ;-)

MacBook Pro on its way, part 1

It has been shipped but details are sparse. Only one location is listed so far; somewhere in Shanghai according to Apple Store Shipment Status:

While we all sit here waiting for my MacBook try and check out this MacBook Pro complete disassembly guide on ifixit.com – it is pure hardcore hardware p0rno.

What is it I’m looking for?

What is it I’m looking for – essentially?
What is my goal? What’s the meaning of life?

Three sunsets

Leafing through my digital photo archive I managed to find these neat photos of sunsets. I also posted a lot of other stuff on Flickr today (click here to see a gallery).

Setting desktop sunshine

The weather is so cloudy and dark today in Århus, Denmark. I doubt I’ll be seeing the sun before it sets.

I have set my desktop to some bright green leaves to cheer me up and remind me that springtime will come eventually:

Apple starts shipping MacBook Pro

Intel Core Duo Processor

Apple announces that they are beginning to ship MacBook Pro

The online Apple Store boasts: “It’s even faster than we thought.”

My 1,6 GHz Intel Core Duo MacBook Pro just got speedbumped to a 1,8 GHz. Happy days!

Update 1: And the delivery date is now set to Mar. 10.
Come on Apple, I placed my order on Jan. 11.

Update 2: The estimated delivery date is now Feb. 28. Just like Henrik’s. Stay tuned for more dates ;-)

Pest & opera [da]

A joke only in Danish, sorry I don’t know how to translate it…

Illusion of progress

Speaking of the trouble with constantly changing three letter acronyms in an organisational context. I stumbled upon this quote, or a variant of it. The quote is frequently attributed to Petronius Arbiter who lived in the old Roman Empire:

“We trained hard… but it seemed that every time we were beginning to form up into teams we would be reorganized. I was to learn later in life that we tend to meet any new situation by reorganizing; and a wonderful method it can be for creating the illusion of progress while producing confusion, inefficiency, and demoralization.”

The quotation is actually not by Petronius; but it is nice to know the illusion of progress is old news even in modern businesses :-)
