Debug my food

Inge and I tried the burgers at Happy Pizza yesterday. Sadly a bug in one of the burgers made us feel nausious and unhappy [da] :-(

Check out my office

I feel elevated and the MacBook feels nice and cool.

I have set up a Griffin iCurve, a Apple Pro Keyboard and some random Logitech mouse. The office has around 9 square metres of floorspace, some shelves, two tables, a few chairs, nice large windows and a whiteboard.

A nice guy named Anders sits at the other desk at the window.

Coff'ay

I should be working…

My new digs

I moved into my new office today. I am writing my master thesis here: Codd-M building, IT-byen Katrinebjerg, Århus, Denmark.

Thank you Inge for downloading the new (intel) Cisco VPN Client and thank you Line for moving the file using your USB-stick.

Danish cocoa-based spellcheck on OS X

cocoAspell I installed the universal (intel) version of cocoAspell on my MacBook Pro five minutes ago. Works fine with the Danish version 5 dictionary and Adium and Apple Mail so far.

A nice surprise on a sunday.

It would be cool if Anton had RSS feed or newsletter email on cocoAspell (cocoaspell.leuski.net). I do not fancy MacUpdate that much. Too much junk and paid subscription.

Finally Windows XP

It took a few hours with backing everything up and installing OS X from scratch. It works..

Windows XP on my MacBook Pro

Makes me feel dirty.

Check out the other photos while I run Windows Update for a few hours:

Starting the installer Select c: Formatting Booting Installed in 40 under minutes :) Windows XP on my MacBook Pro

Still no Windows

After a few repairs..

MacBook Pro volume repair

.. My disk still suffers from some condition which prevents Windows from being installed.

Cannot move some files

Windows installations always seem to require some sort of drastic FORMAT C: measure. I will attempt a reinstall of OS X. But first a complete backup, which will take 3 or 4 hours.

New firmware

I grabbed the firmware from:

http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macbookproearly2006firmwareupdate10.html

Used the updater to shut down. Held the power button until the light flashed..

Hold the power button until the light flashes

Sat and watched the progress bar..

Wait and watch the progress bar

Waited for a few minutes more..

Wait for it...

OS X boots as usual and says update completed..

Firmware update complete

Tried using Boot Camp again…

No Boot Camp on my MacBook Pro yet

Yes! Finally I can run Windows and get viruses on my Mac. I’m going to try it out..

Boot Camp - get it here
Apple – Boot Camp

I saw the news here:
Apple quietly releases Boot Camp Beta at World of Apple
And here:
Apple Goes to Boot Camp at Binary Bonsai

Tried it out on the MacBook Pro.. The Boot Camp Assistant tells me to update my computer’s firmware.

You must update your computer's firmware before using this setup assistant

I checked Software Update. Nothing new for my MacBook Pro.. Nothing yet.

Blog Writers Block

I am starting to suffer from writers block – blog-wise.

I have been writing a few good pages for my master thesis on it and organisations this past week. It is stupifying hard work and tends to put me off taking pictures, blogging about stuff and being socialble in general. That is really too bad. I hope it is just a phase. But right now things are corelated this way: The more intellectually challenging work becomes, the less I write here.

Tip of the day: Experience other things than blinking cursors on white screens

I had sort of a breakthrough yesterday in the shower and was actually able to hold my thoughts on the given subject long enough to write the ideas down. My short term memory is really short when I am stressed. The lines written down might be the best few paragraphs I have written in a while. The breakthorugh idea itself is not important. I will keep it secret and sell it off to some huge dot com in a few years. Heh. The important thing is that I got a new idea while not sitting at my computer.
