Towel Day

Today is Towel Day

Towel Day, a tribute to Douglas Adams

So long Douglas, and thanks for all the fish!

Towel Day 2006

Incidently May 25th is also my great friend Tine’s birthday. Happy birthday! I wish you all the best for the year to come.

I am worth a lot of mon’ay

.. or at least my domain is worth a bunch of mon’ay… I got my duhn.net domain-name’s value analysed at LeapFish.com

leapfish.com

Check out the results:

Results for duhn.net

Thank you for using the LeapFish Domain Name Analyzer. The following custom report explains more details about what each of these numbers means.

The .net top level domain was created around the time as .com names which has given it plenty of time to become popular. This TLD is simple to remember and exhibits a long history making it a great second choice in the domain name market.

As any good domain should, this name does not contain numbers, hyphens, or unicode characters. This is a desirable effect and may not increase the value of your domain name, but it definitly won’t decrease it.

Your domain name contains two Dictionary.com entries. There are names like this that are more valuable than a single dictionary word and when paired correctly, these words can be much easier to remember than a single dictionary word. An example would be, LeapFish.com is much easier to remember than Imprescriptible.com .

When your domain name contains 4 characers, you are a value changing peak. Short domain names are traded because of just that, they are short. And a four letter name could definitly fall into this category. On the other hand, you begin to have more english words available to you and you are looking at lexical value as well. You could actually have a name worth more than a 2 or 3 character name! There are 456,976 possibilites using only letters.

That sounds like a reasonable explaination :-) Now you try.. Leave a comment or something.

Yet another Apple firmware update

Apple released yet another firmware update for MacBook Pro today. Grab it at Apple Support – it is called MacBook Pro SMC Firmware Update.

The update application

The installer installs the application above. It makes your Mac reboot, run a grey progress bar for at short while and reboot again. And you are set.

SMC firmware update complete

As you can see it installed itself perfectly fine. I have not tried booting into Windows xp with it yet. I will get back with an update if anything unusual should happend.

Lavere TV-licens for studerende [da]

I am writing this post in danish because it is about lowering the tax on public TV and applies to Danish citizens exclusively.

TV

Back from the junkyard

I am back from oblivion, a junkyard and maybe obscurity :-) Here is what happened during the past few weeks…

it-vest conference on globalization and it-outsourcing. At the workshops we tried thinking outside the box about the many aspects of globalization. Very nice to get refreshing thoughts and alternative perspectives.

Visiting friends in Copenhagen. I had a great time!

Went to the annual boat race at Århus University. It was like a miniature festival with 10.000 people in the University Park.

Huge project on the rise: I am working on a cookbook with Maria and Lene. Check the fresh pictures here: Passion for food on Flickr

Last but not least I enjoyed a tasty dub/dancehall performance by Junkyard Productions at Fabriken. The band has a unique high energy level and super tight stage-presence. Standing still while listening to them is absolutely impossible. I captured a low quality mobile phone video at the concert: Junkyard Productions @ Fabriken, 6/5 2006 (it is a 3GP file – you need to download it and use QuickTime or something similar to view it)

And now, back to the books… Trying to ignore the perfect barbecue weather…
